Marlin Gene Ulrich Sr., 84 of Harrisburg passed away peacefully on Tues., March 20th at Country Meadows of Hershey. Born Dec. 14, 1933 in Harrisburg to the late Isaac Ulrich and Florence Murray Ulrich. He attended William Penn High School where he played basketball and ran track.
Surviving are his children Marlin Ulrich Jr. and Marlene Ulrich Williams (Kenneth) both of Harrisburg, 4 Grandchildren; Karen Williams Economopoulos (Steve), Lori Williams Miceli (Jim), Lindsey Williams and Aaron Ulrich; 7 great grandchildren; Katelyn, Kristen, Ashley & Addison Economopoulos and Dominic, Anthony & Jacqueline Miceli and a brother Serell Ulrich of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Nancy Livingston Ulrich; 3 brothers; Hersheul, Norvil, Leon and 3 sisters; Doris Hoffer, Alverta Shugars and Joyce Gladney.
Marlin retired after 42 yrs. from PPL as a meter reader & installer. He also worked part-time as a member of the IATSE Union Local 98 as a Stage Hand at the Hershey Theater and Arena for over 31 yrs. One of his first jobs was cooking at the Dauphin County Home and also ushering at the Colonial Movie Theater where he met the "Love of his Life" Nancy. Marlin coached at the Midget and Teener Leagues in Hbg. He was an avid bowler, liked to shoot pool, play cards, watch baseball games and his grandchildren's sporting events. He loved to drive his car and travel with his wife especially to Tennessee. They enjoyed just going for rides and looking at leaves changing & Christmas lights in season. They also loved going to the movies & seeing Elvis impersonators. Marlin was a very patient, helpful and resilient man with a great sense of humor. He'll always be remembered as a Devoted, Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather who will be dearly missed!
A Celebration of his Life will begin at 12 pm on Saturday, April 14th at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1214 Crosby St., Linglestown. Visitation with the family will be from 11am–12pm prior to the service.
